Lower Level Classroom News

Cowles held its first annual Literacy Night at the Franklin Library in March. Students enjoyed a scavenger hunt, made bookmarks, and checked out books with their new library cards.  Students also had the pleasure of meeting the Cat in the Hat. A big thank you to Cowles Librarian, Erin Fidler and the Franklin Library staff who made it such a fun night!

Cowles first through third grade students have paired up with Hoover STEM students and science teacher Eric Hall to learn about science lab safety procedures, the germination process and how to use a microscope. Students enjoyed learning about the parts of the flower and reflected upon their experiences through recording, journaling and illustrating. Students were able to plant seeds that will later be transplanted into Cowles classroom gardens.  Thank you Eric Hall and Chemistry STEM students!
