Mock Trial

Mock Trial Teams from Cowles and Merrill will be competing in the regional Mock Trial Competition next week on Tuesday, October 28 and Wednesday, October 29 at the Convention Center. October 29th will involve three preliminary rounds (each team competes twice), and the 30th will be one play-off round in the afternoon.  Approximately fifty teams from the Des Moines area will be competing, and the top nine teams will go onto the state tournament. Merrill/Cowles have a combined four teams that are competing throughout the day on the 28th.  Rounds are open to the public, and friends and family are encouraged to come support the kids. Each of the four teams are comprised of both Cowles and Merrill students. This is the second year that Cowles has competed and collaborated with Merrill middle school. This has been a great experience for all of the students involved. Students have been practicing since the summer time up to three times a week.
