Primary Classroom NewsLoganCowles Montessori Preprimary Classes head to the Pumpkin Patch

On Tuesday, Oct. 22nd, 2014 the six Preprimary classes from Cowles Elementary will travel to Cambridge, Ia. to go on a Pumpkin Tour at Center Grove Orchard.  This is in conjunction to our group discussions on the life cycle of the pumpkin. A pumpkin was cut in half revealing the pumpkin’s pulp, fibrous strands, the pumpkin seeds, and the cavity.   Many of the students scraped the fibrous strands and pumpkins seeds out of the pumpkin revealing an empty pumpkin cavity.  Additional discussions included the pumpkin flower and the essential roll bees play in the process of pollination.  We are so excited to see the final process of the life cycle of the pumpkin and actually walk through a pumpkin patch and pick a pumpkin.
