Cowles Poetry Slam
Through a partnership with the Des Moines Public Schools, Cowles CMPG, and RUN DSM, our sixth graders have taken part in a six week spoken word, poetry session. The sixth graders in Ms. Gibson, Mrs. Maxwell, and Ms. Myers’ rooms have developed their poetry skills and developed a poem that is representative of their, Their Voice. As a culmination of their work, we are hosting our first Cowles Montessori Poetry Slam on Tuesday, December 20th beginning at 7:00pm in the Cowles gymnasium. Please plan to attend and support the work of our sixth grade students! This is not only open to our sixth grade families, but our entire Cowles community! Mr. Egherman and Mrs. Jones’ sixth graders will also take part in the poetry sessions beginning in January with a second Poetry Slam to follow before spring break!
